News

31/03/08: Congratulations to Barry Gabriel who was the winner of our new 'Stonehouse Brewery Match' trophy at Weston Pools Fishery on Saturday. The prize also included a cask of our finest ale, so we were pleased to see such a great turnout for the match, despite the horrendous weather.

It's back! Our seasonal Wheeltapper's Wheat Beer has been brewed again and is now available in cask & polypins. We also hope to put it into bottles in the not too distant future.

21/03/08: Brave the weather and come along to enjoy Treflach Farm's 'Monster Day' on Easter Saturday - 22nd March. We will have a stall selling bottles, as well as beer from the cask. The farmers market will include a whole host of other local producers, as well as a legendary Treflach Farm hog roast.  A monster hunt and egg based fun will be laid on to amuse those too young to enjoy our wares and, by no means least, Innes will be putting down his mash shovel and picking up his guitar to add to the fun.

8/03/08: We're delighted to announce that our recent brewery tours have raised £225 for Cancer Research UK. A huge thank you to the Oak in Oswestry, The Last Inn, Hengoed and the Bridge Inn, Chirk, who raised the sum in return for a haphazard insight into our brewing world and a few pints!

For anyone else intersted in a look at what we do, our brewery tours can be arranged for groups of ten or more people. The tours take place inside the brewery and include an informal talk through the brewing process, a light ploughmans and, of course, sampling some of the beers at our (rickety) bar. Please contact us for more details.

7/01/08: Happy New Year! Thany you to everyone who supported us last year and over the Christmas period. Our on site off-license is now a permanent fixture and we are open Mon-Fri 9am - 6pm for bottle sales.

Now to the bad news. As I'm sure many of you have heard, the price of barley and hops have rocketed over the last few months, due to the weather seriously affecting the 2007 crops. This means that unfortunately we have had to increase our prices by 50 pence per case of bottles.

5/12/07: Our bottled beer Christmas gift packs are now ready and available, direct from the brewery, as well as from selected local retailers.

16/11/07: Well, we're certainly been feeling the nip of that North wind recently, so we were pleased that the, long promised, premium bitter is ready for drinking. Off The Rails is a 4.8 abv rich and malty brew. It is made with that classic British hop, First Gold, which balances the maltiness of the beer. As well as making an appearance in local pubs, Off The Rails will also be available in bottles by December.

More bottle news - following many requests,  Cambrian Gold is now also in bottle conditioned form.

Also, looking ahead to next months festivities, we can supply gift packs containing 3 bottles, or 2 bottles plus a Stonehouse glass. Please contact us if you would like more details.

26/09/07: We've been a bit slow updating the website, but we are absolutely delighted that our Station Bitter was this years winner of the Shopshire Brewers Challenge Trophy at the annual Shrewsbury Camra Beer Festival. We feel honoured to have received the award after only six months in business!

We also enjoyed our first Ludlow Food and Drink Festival recently. Among the many comments we received at all the shows we attended this year, was a request for the rest of our beers to be bottled. We are working towards getting Cambrian Gold into bottles by November, and hope to follow this with the Wheeltapper's soon after.

Also, as we're going into the cooler months now, plans are afoot for a new winter beer. We'll post more details when we've finalised the recipe . . .

31/08/07: Our first awards! We're over the moon at hearing that  not only was Cambrian Gold was voted best beer of the Navvy beer festival (despite Mark & Brent refusing to count our votes - OK, so we gave our own beer top marks, but we do love it!), but our Weeltapper's Wheat Beer also scooped a first prize down in Leintwardine last weekend. Thanks to all of you who voted for us!

We're busy packing our van for the Welsh Food Festival, at Glansevern Hall Gardens, near Welshpool, this weekend. As well as having over 50 speciality food and drink producers, there's plenty of entertainment, demonstrations and events too.

22/08/07: Our new Cambrian Gold has been going down very well. Those of you who have still not sampled it, can find it at the Navigation Beer Festival this weekend. Whilst there, you may also catch Innes playing a spot of slide guitar with The Blueridge  Express.

31/07/07: Shrewsbury Camra visited the brewery last Friday evening, and a few jugs of beer were enjoyed during an informal tour. We love nothing more than willing listeners for our brewing tales - something our friends are long bored of . . .  We'd like to thank everyone who came for their enthusiasm and kind comments about our beer!

As mentioned last week, the new beer, Cambrian Gold is now being delivered to our local outlets.

24/07/07: Following our recent treat of being let out and meeting people, it was back to the grind in the brewery this week. As well as the usual brews, we've had a go at another new one. This beer, Cambrian Gold,  will be 4.2 abv golden ale made with Cascade Hops. Just right for summer - if it ever arrives!

14/07/07: Wow! We were amazed by the support at the Oswestry Food & Drink Festival. A huge thank you for everyone one who turned up, especially those of you who braved Friday's deluge. We were really excited to have our Station Bitter available bottled conditioned for the first time, and so pleased with the interest they received. Shane had to make numerous trips back to the brewery to replenish stocks, which was fantastic. We're already looking forward to the next one!

Also this week, we had our strangest delivery to date. Shane hauled a cask of Station Bitter up 3560 ft to the summit of Mount Snowdon, although he did later admit that he cheated and took the mountain railway. Many thanks to Andrew Roberts of Evadx (the main steel contractor for the new Summit Building on Snowdon) for the invite to the unveiling of the newly erected steel framework of the building.

02/07/07: We were pleased to supply the Llanfyllin Workhouse Festival with our full range of beers this weekend. Innes reported back that it was a fantastic event,  despite the weather doing its worse.

Coming up, our beers will be available at Corvedale Brewery's beer stall at the Church Stretton Real Ale and Wine Festival on Saturday 7th July.

First comments received about the KPA have been positive. It is a very bitter and hoppy brew, which many of you seem to enjoy.
