Station retains it's Gold title!
We had a very enjoyable time at the Ludlow Beer Festival last weekend. A fantastic selection of almost 180 beers, from all over the Wales and West region, were on offer.
The festival is run in conjunction with the SIBA regional competition and we were delighted to win gold for Station Bitter for the second year running. The beer proved so popular with the festival crowd that it was the first beer to run out - a mere 3 hours after the festival was opened!
We were also very pleased to be awarded a silver for Off The Rails, and a silver for bottled Sunlander.

Station Bitter is National Champion Standard Bitter!
Stonehouse Brewery has taken one of the top Awards in the National Beer Competition held by the Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA), announced at the organisation’s BeerX celebration of British beer, held in Sheffield earlier this month.
The brewery’s best selling beer, Station Bitter, was judged Champion Beer in the Standard Bitters category It was one of just a handful of beers to win a national award, from around 1,400 that entered the initial stages of the competition.
Shane Parr says "We are still in a state of shock over this, but everyone I've spoken to since say they aren't surprised because Station Bitter is a great beer. This award is something we would never have dreamed of getting when we started up six years ago, and it is a credit to everyone working at the brewery. The whole team are coming over to Sheffield tonight to help us celebrate".
Stonehouse Brewery are currently constructing a new building with help from grant funding through Shropshire Council.
Shane Parr says, “We are very proud of our beers and delighted to win this Award, ahead of some of the finest brewers in the country. We’re grateful to everyone at our brewery, and to the many people locally who have helped us to brew great beer. We promise to continue doing so for many more years, and hope that this Award will help us to bring our beers to many more people.”

We've had a busy week!
After months and months of drawing, planning and groundwork we're finally looking like we're geeting somewhere. The steel fram for the new brewery building has been erected.
We can now really start to imagine what our lovely, spacious, purpose built brewery will look like & we're very excited!

Booka Beer Tasting
We'll be at Booka Bookshop in Oswestry to do a tasting session between 2.30pm-4.00pm on Saturday 10th November.
The event is to celebrate the launch of Pete Brown's latest book 'Shakeseares Local'. For those of you who don't know, Pete Brown is known as the Bill Bryson of Beer, and his new book has been described by Roger Protz as a "rollicking good read".
If that's not reason enough, Booka are giving away a free bottle of Stonehouse Beer with each purchase of the book. Now, I'm not going to mention the 'C' word, as it's only November, but . . . what a great present idea!

Expansion!
After months pouring over architect drawings and meticulously filling in grant applications, we are very excited to have been awarded a grant and have our plans approved by Shropshire Council.
We are now about to don our hard hats and build our beautiful, shiny, new brewery building.
Those of you who have visited us, will appreciate that while the chicken sheds have served us very well up to this point, they are now looking very tired. The new building will be far more visitor friendly, as well as being a fantastic purpose built facility for us to brew in.

Gold awards at Ludlow!
We were delighted to win 7 awards at the regional SIBA (Society of Independent Brewers) awards, held last Friday at Ludlow Castle. The awards included two gold’s; one for Station Bitter and one for Kingston Flyer KPA. Station was also awarded a Bronze award in the overall competition.
We think 3rd place in a competition of over 150 beers is a fantastic achievement. We all work very hard to keep our beers consistent and are constantly tweaking the recipes to ensure they taste exactly as they should do. Station Bitter is our flagship brew and we think it tastes better than ever at the moment.
The beers, from over 50 breweries in the SIBA Wales and West region, were blind judged by a panel of professional brewers and brewing industry experts for the prestigious annual awards.
We were especially pleased to gain a bronze award for our new brew Sunlander. We have only just perfected the recipe for Sunlander, but we are really happy with how it’s turned out. It’s a lovely, light, fresh tasting beer, brewed with Australian hops, and very easy to drink!
